Two Days After Hurricane Beryl in Negril

After Beryl

A Brush, not a Blow

We all watched Beryl’s course with the memory of previous hurricanes, especially Gilbert in 1988 whose eye passed over Negril. Fortunately, Beryl did not make landfall, but passed south of the island before heading west towards the Cayman Islands and Mexico.

In the aftermath, the house, cottage and garage/storerooms were unscathed.

All of the great cotton trees were also undamaged, as were all of the palms.

However, the small seagrape trees near the seawall were toppled over that opened up a new vista onto Long Bay.

Tennis afficianados will find the court intact as the windscreens were rolled down prior to the storm and the porous structure of the court allowed for the water to absorb quickly.

It could have been much, much worse.

We are preparing to purchase a new generator in the event that the existing one can’t be resuscitated.

We certainly want to thank our staff for their efforts in preparation for the hurricane and the clean up crew in the aftermath to get us back together. The remainder of the summer is still available and all reservations will be entitled to a 10% discount.
