Up and Running

We’re off to the best start of the New Year that we have ever experienced, thanks to our  returning guests from all across the States and Canada knowing that the caring spirit of our staff will be reflected in the meals prepared and served, rooms cleaned, the yard and beaches raked clear, the tennis court rolled, and vigilance to all the little details required for their safety and comfort. They have returned to experience the glorious sunrises and sunsets, the crystal clear waters, the bustle of a growing resort destination with its distinctive devotion to maintaining a low-profile, both literally and figuratively noted by the absence of high-rise buildings and the preservation of its local identity – a fishing village with boats going and coming with the freshest catches of the day.

Those who have been devoted to Negril over the years will also note the changes. The presence of at least a half dozen doctors’ offices and a new private hospital equipped with the latest imaging technology and laboratory and well trained physicians. And, perhaps to the consternation of purists, the inevitable arrival of fast food chains, including Little Caesars, while still maintaining local flavors by a wide variety of independent restaurants and pizzerias.  Our guests will be happy to know that Ivan’s, Ricks Café, Rock House on the West End never lost a beat after Hurricane Melissa. And, now within walking distance of the villa is Curry Goat Daily and Pickles, where most of the ex-pats hang out. And Sun Shine Village, which is literally a stone’s throw from the property has been undergoing renovation with the addition of a food court and Country Store, a supermarket, that has one of the best selection of wines on the market, and all the fixings for fresh salads including mini-greens.

And for those whose memories are of the pungent aroma of ganja, there are now dispensaries selling locally bred varietals of the Jamaican herb. As with all progress, comes the formalization of a natural product that was always legal in Jamaica – psilocybin – which is now available as gummies, in curated chocolate, and dried mushrooms by Patoo with free delivery.

As always, the kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkeling gear are available at no cost to explore the shoreline near and far. And, with Max on board,

And, finally, the magic of the place is being recognized by future newly weds for weddings and receptions.
