Mosquito
Control
Rarely do mosquitos
pose a problem. After the Great Morass was drained in the late
'50s in preparation for the expansion of tourism, the
mosquito population has never been a problem.
However, given the fact that they are never fully
eradicated, they will always be with us and occasionally
after periods of prolonged rains, their presence will be
more noticeable. Since it is impracticable and not
aesthetically pleasing, the house does not have screens. The
beds, however, all have nettings which provides an elegant
solution.
On those occasions when
the mosquitos are a nuisance, either of the two watchmen will
spray the yard using an Ultra Low Volume Back Pack Sprayer
made by H.D. Hudson. Unlike the foggers which leave an
annoying smell, the ULV sprayer accomplishes its task by
flushing out and knocking down mosquitos from under leaves and
the eaves of the house. This method is so effective that the
US military uses the sprayers for its tropical
deployments!

We are very
concerned about the health of the watchmen and here they are
with their protective suits, face masks and ear plugs (which
can't be seen). |
